Excellent presentation! I love the flowchart idea, but I'm just curious about the bottom left corner: "I will create a curriculum that represents the diversity of the world." Isn't that already the intention of your overall flowchart?

Hi Krista, Thank you for your comment! My intention for that last box was to say that, even if there is nothing problematic about a particular song, if it doesn't reflect a balanced curriculum you will want to take some steps to include more diversity. But yes, I will acknowledge the redundancy haha. Thank you so much for watching!

This presentation and flowchart are awesome!! Great resources and food for thought. One thing that the flowchart does not reference is any effect on audience members if the song is to be performed. Maybe it would be a great age-appropriate opportunity to discuss problematic aspects of oppression with students, but could leave audience members with the impression that you are encouraging concepts such as invalidating identities by programming the song. I don’t have a good answer on how to handle those situations yet, but it could be a helpful aspect to include on a future flow chart!

Hi Alex, Thanks so much for watching. That's a great idea, you're right I didn't consider the audience perspective--I'll add this on the next iteration. Thanks for your suggestion!
