Miles Wilcox was born and raised in San Diego, CA. He began piano lessons at age 4, but at age 8 discovered his true instrumental love, the cello. He added the viola to his instrumental palette at age 11, and priding himself in being a multi-instrumentalist, has since taught himself a number of string instruments including violin, bass, guitar, mandolin, mandocello, and 'ukulele.
In 6th grade he received the peer-voted commendation "Most Likely to Become a Music Teacher" and his fate has been sealed ever since.
After two years in the Instrumental Music department at Coronado School of the Arts in Coronado, CA, he left high school early to begin his undergraduate career at Bard College at Simon's Rock in Great Barrington, MA, graduating with a B.A. in Music & Performance Studies at age 19. He moved to Boston to earn his Masters of Music in Music Education degree from Boston Conservatory of Music, and began teaching private lessons out of his home. In 2015 he joined the faculty of the Boston Conservatory Program for Students on the Autism Spectrum, which became the Berklee Institute for Arts Education and Special Needs (BIAESN). He continues to teach private lessons in violin, cello, guitar, general music, and composition, as well as co-teaching a music for young children and a rock band ensemble for students with disabilities.
